    On May 10, my family celebrated both Motherโ€™s Day and my momโ€™s birthday at the Lobster Pot in George Town. Ever since my mom arrived on the island, she had been talking about wanting to eat lobster, so we figured there was no better place to take her than Lobster Pot. We had originally requested an outdoor table when making our reservation because we thought it would be nice to enjoy the waterfront views. Little did we know it was going to be scorching hot that day! On top of that, the restaurant was packed with families celebrating Motherโ€™s Day.     Today went to the annual adult street parade for Batabano / CayMAS in George Town. There were loud music, colorful costumes, people dancing in the streets, random strangers hyping each other up, drinks flowing everywhere! It was one of those events where you can just feel everyone letting loose and enjoying life for a day. If youโ€™ve never experienced Caribbean carnival before, itโ€™s basically a huge cultural celebration rooted in music, freedom, history, and self-expression. Different islands celebrate it differently, but the common themes are soca music, elaborate costumes, dancing, and community. Carnival in the Caribbean has deep historical roots tied to emancipation and cultural identity, evolving over generations into the massive celebrations we see today.     Since I got pregnant and gave birth, I pretty much abandoned this blog. What a shame, honestly. This used to be my little diary, my safe space on the internet.     Before getting pregnant, I imagined pregnancy would be a slow and predictable process. You find out, you watch your belly grow, you prepare the nursery, and then eventually the baby arrives. Thatโ€™s the version you see everywhere. My experience was different. I found out I was pregnant in early July. I remember staring at the test and just thinking, okayโ€ฆ this is real now.     Last December 6, my workplace held our annual Christmas party at Ristorante Papagallo in West Bay. Luckily for me, itโ€™s close to where I live, and I wasnโ€™t part of the planning committee this year. No running around, no stressing about venues, and no last-minute logistics on my plate. A small but very appreciated win. Last yearโ€™s party was at the Kimpton, and while I donโ€™t think I was officially on the planning committee then either, I still worked closely with the team that handled all of that.     November 25 is my husbandโ€™s birthday, and this year we decided to take the whole day off just to be together. Nothing fancy or over the top. Just us, spending time and catching up on the things that actually matter. Most of the day was already set aside for his checkups anyway. He was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and since Iโ€™m pregnant, we figured itโ€™s the best time for both of us to start eating healthier and paying closer attention to our health.
